Anny & Eric
Eric and Anny met in the winter of 2018 volunteering for their friend’s city council campaign. They were distracted in meetings, taking turns staring at each other from across the table and then looking away before the other could notice. They each assumed the other was taken until Eric (suspiciously) assigned them to the same polling place the morning of the election. Their friend won, and their hug when their shift ended was as awkward as it was important.
Their first date was April 29, 2019, when they ate Dominican takeout and watched The Incredibles 2 at Eric’s apartment. Since then, every weekend together became most of every week. Their families started treating each other like family and treating them like they were already married. They moved in together, and when their families came the next morning to see their new apartment, Eric proposed.
Anny and Eric were married on July 3, 2021 at The Haight in Elgin. It was most attendees’ first party together since the pandemic, which made it all the more special.
