Alexandra and Matthew Aikin’s wedding on September 20, 2025, was the perfect balance of joyful celebration and meaningful tradition. The couple exchanged vows at the breathtaking Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, a church Ally had dreamed of marrying in since childhood. Surrounded by 260 of their closest family and friends, the ceremony marked the beginning of a day deeply rooted in love, faith, and family history. September held special significance to Matt’s family as many successful marriages in their family began that same month, some lasting more than 56 years. Making the date feel like the perfect start to their own lifelong tradition together.
Ally looked radiant in her Calla Blanche gown. The dress featured a dramatic train and a removable skirt that made dancing effortless later in the evening. Adding the perfect sentimental touch, Ally honored her mother by incorporating pearls from her wedding dress, delicately sewn into the neckline of her gown. She completed the look with pink and white Betsey Johnson “blue bottom” shoes while her bridesmaids wore shades of pink and red. Personal touches were woven throughout the day: Ally carried a bouquet wrapped with her rosary and adorned with pins gifted by her parents and sister, while she and Matt made a pact to stay by each other’s side and savor every moment together.
The celebration continued at The Saint Kate, where Art Deco glamour set the stage for a vibrant reception designed with ombré florals in red, pink, and white displayed in gold vases. Cocktail hour paid homage to Ally’s Sicilian heritage with waiter-passed limoncello shots, Rat Pack classics played by a pianist, and signature cocktails, a Hugo Spritz and a Whiskey Old Fashioned. Guests were welcomed to their seats with traditional confetti almonds symbolizing five wishes for the couple’s future. As the night unfolded, Matt’s carefully curated playlist kept the dance floor packed for more than four hours, especially when Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” began to play.
The evening ended on a sweet note with cannolis and cookies from Peter Sciortino’s Bakery and a pink-accented wedding cake from Simma’s Cakes. After nearly eight years together—starting with a first date at Culver’s where Matt says he already knew she was the one—the couple celebrated the beginning of married life exactly as they imagined.
